Short Description
The Smart Manufacturing Lighthouse Program (SMLP) is a program funded by the US Department of Energy and matched with State of Illinois fund to accelerate the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies among small and mid-sized manufacturers (SMMs) in Illinois. DCEO will work with a manufacturing industry partner to provide a range of services, including training, workforce development, technology showcases, and direct implementation to drive smart manufacturing across the state. Key outcomes include connecting manufacturers with technical assistance, implementing smart manufacturing roadmaps, and improving workforce skills.

Appeals
The Merit Based Review process is subject to appeal. However, competitive grant appeals are limited to the evaluation process. Evaluation scores may not be protested. Only the evaluation process is subject to appeal. The appeal must be submitted in writing to the Department within 14 calendar days from the date of the denial letter. The written appeal shall include the name and address of the appealing party, the identification of the grant and a statement of reasons for the appeal. To file an appeal, applicants must submit the appeal in writing and in accordance with the Merit-Based Application Review Appeals Process listed on the Grant Opportunities page of the DCEO website: https://www2.illinois.gov/dceo/AboutDCEO/GrantOpportunities/Pages/MeritAppReview.aspx.

Program Accomplishments
Provide outreach to more than 2,500 manufacturing contacts, 6 awareness webinars and 6 in-person technology showcases, provide technical assistance and training to 75 firms on smart manufacturing topics. The project will also provide Lighthouse application award for approximately 30 small or medium sized manufacturers. The team will also work with DOE to determine the impact of the project activities.
