Short Description
Provides funding to at least 10 community colleges that will serve over 1,600 apprentices in Information Technology occupations, developing programs with the capacity to pilot, improve, assess, and scale new apprenticeship models.
Federal Authorization
Funds are authorized by Section 414(c) of the American Competitiveness and Workforce Improvement Act of 1998 (ACWIA), as amended (29 USC 3224a). Unless otherwise stipulated, recipients are subject to Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards; Final Rule on December 26, 2013 and found at 2 CFR Part 200 along with the OMB approved exceptions for DOL at 2 CFR Part 2900 published on December 19, 2014 in the Federal Register., Section 414(c), Public Law 105-227

Objective
Expand existing industry led customized apprenticeships through IT sector partnerships. Innovate new apprenticeship models for pilot and expansion. In partnership with JFF, scale and expand apprenticeship model nationally. Each grantee is to meet or exceed the seven apprentice training and employment performance outcomes and the three expanding apprenticeship program outputs. Train apprentices in IT.

There is a 35% match. Each grantee will have specific numbers for performance outcome measures.
Uses and Restrictions
Support sector-based approaches to expanding efforts to develop and implement apprenticeships on a national scale for H-1B eligible industries or occupations. In Illinois it is Information Technology.

Quarterly reporting requirements – due to ICCB within 30 days after end of each quarter; attend all ICCB required meetings.
