The purpose of this funding opportunity is to expand the early childhood faculty preparation pipeline and to ensure a diverse, well-prepared cohort of master’s and/or doctoral candidates prepared to teach early childhood in Illinois higher education institutions.

Award Procedures
Upon completion of the submission and review process, each successful applicant will receive a notice of award. A Notice of Denial will be sent to the applicants not receiving awards. A Notice of State Award (NOSA) shall be issued to the finalists who have successfully completed all grant award requirements and have been selected to receive grant funding. The NOSA will specify the funding terms. Those to be awarded grants will received a grant agreement to be signed by the entity’s authorized official. The grant agreement is not binding on the parties until it has been fully executed by the IBHE.

Funding can be allocated to plan and implement this specialized program for diverse early childhood faculty candidates. A maximum of 10% of the grant may be allocated to indirect costs. Grantee may not use grant funds to pay for promotional materials (swag), such as pens, buttons, magnets, etc. Funds may not be used to pay for construction. Participant costs may be subject to preapproval.
Reports
Payment requests are due 15 days after the end of the quarter. Quarterly Progress Reports (financial and program) are due 15 days after the end of the quarter.

Anticipated awards are between $500,000 and $1,000,000. However, these will vary based on the program type and number of candidates to be served.
