Objective
East Bluff is a not-for-profit organization located in the East Bluff neighborhood of Peoria, IL, encompassing a large portion of the 61603 zip code. Peoria’s East Bluff neighborhood faces the challenges of rising crime and poverty rates. These programs allow youth and young adults a safe place to exceed. Youth Center: In this new program, two evenings a week and on Saturdays, the East Bluff Community Center will offer structured programming for youth, together with community partners. These are the hours when residents feel there is nothing for kids to do, and we aim to fill this gap. Youth will be exposed to a wide variety of disciplines to help them develop their skills and passions. These will include art, culture, game design, STEM, entrepreneurship, and more. Mentoring: In an expansion of the current programs East Bluff Basketball and Boys to Men Empowerment, we will continue to grow these mentoring opportunities and develop more mentoring opportunities for girls. These programs connect youth to positive role models who help them set and achieve positive goals for themselves. Community Engagement: In an expansion of our current program designed to connect community members to one another and to services and programming, we will provide additional opportunities to achieve this. These activities are vital to raising awareness of the programs and services available to youth and families and getting them engaged in the building up of their neighborhood.
