Short Description
The Illinois Resource Center (IRC), the technical services and professional development group for Illinois bilingual and ESL pre-K to 12 programs, has launched a computer science (CS) training program for teachers of English learners (EL) and other under-resourced educators. The program plans to train up to 150 teachers, divided into cohorts, to teach and use coding, computational thinking, computer networking, software development and other technical and computer science related skills to students as a core part of their studies.

Objective
1. Expand CS, technology and/or coding training for up to 60 - 150 teachers; including EL districts and majority African-American serving districts 2. Expand CS, technology and/or coding training into CPS EL teachers with a CPS approved partner 3. Create 1-2 Admin Academies for administrators on program implementation (IPA/CPAA) 4. Research/underwrite EdTech certifications for teachers 5. Assist the IL Migrant Council in the distribution of 50-100 refurbished PCs to households across the state, and implement a scholarship program to enroll them in a computer class at a community college in Illinois
