Short Description
The Marcie’s Babies Project (MBP) promotes optimum health and nutrition of families in the Austin community of Chicago by providing birthing families and those with children up to age 12 with resources and essential items. MBP eliminates barriers to receiving services by facilitating timely access to nutritious foods, education, medical care, social services, and other supports.

Objective
- Promote optimum health and nutrition of families in the Austin community of Chicago - Providing birthing families and those with children up to age 12 with free resources and essential items - Eliminate barriers to receiving services by facilitating timely access to nutritious foods, education, medical care, social services, and other supports - Assist families to apply for WIC and other eligible benefits - Ensure access to free technology, transportation, and drop-in child care for families who are receiving services on-site to assist them in attending their necessary appointments to meet their health goals - Provide outreach to birthing families and those with children under age 12 and complete a Social Determinants of Health Screening to interested clients to ensure their holistic needs are met through wrap around services and internal or external referrals - Promote physical, mental, and nutritional health to individuals and families in the community through events and opportunities for birthing families and those with children to participate in educational events, demonstrations, and workshops

Preapplication Coordination
Applicants must submit a completed Universal Grant Application as well as complete the pre-qualification processes. Each applicant (unless the applicant is an individual or Federal or State awarding agency that is exempt from those requirements under 2 CFR § 25.110(b) or (c), or has an exception approved by the Federal or State awarding agency under 2 CFR § 25.110(d)) is required to: be registered in SAM before submitting the application; provide a valid EUI number in its application; and continue to maintain an active SAM registration with current information at all times during which the applicant has an active Federal, Federal pass-through or State award or an application or plan under consideration by a Federal or State awarding agency.
