Applicant Eligibility
1) Eligible recipients are limited to those persons who possess a current wildlife rehabilitation license/permit issued by the Department and who have provided care for threatened or endangered wildlife species during the 3-year period preceding the date of their application for grant funds. Those applicants who intend to use any portion of grant funds received from the Department to take care of migratory birds must also possess a current wildlife rehabilitation license/permit issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service allowing that activity. 2) Eligible projects are limited to those projects necessary for maintenance of facilities used to rehabilitate threatened or endangered species. Eligible uses of grant funds are limited to structural repair and maintenance of existing buildings, pens, cages and appurtenant facilities used to take care of threatened or endangered wildlife species.

Formula Matching Requirements
Funds available limited to 5% of the amount of funds deposited from the IL income tax check-off for the previous year collected in the current year. Award limited to $2000/entity.
Uses and Restrictions
Projects are limited to those for the maintenance of wildlife rehabilitation facilities that take care of threatened or endangered species.
Reports
When requested by the department, the grantee will cooperate by placing a sign or affixing a decal, as provided by the department, to notify the public that the project received funding from the fund. Usually these are exhibits or site improvements suitable for signage. All projects are subject to physical site inspection as requested by the Department. Purchased equipment must be reported on annually for five years to the Department with an equipment use report. All purchased assets records are subject to audit as requested by the Department. All equipment is subject to repossession by the Department if the grantee is dissolved or the project abandoned within five years from receipt of final payment of the grant award.
