Applicant Eligibility
Grantees will facilitate the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of initiatives to prevent healthcare associated infections (HAI) and antimicrobial resistance (AR) in Illinois.
Grantees will:
• expand the Precious Drugs & Scary Bugs (PDSB) Campaign for outpatient providers
• analyze HAI data from the National Healthcare Safety Network and other data sources
• assess effectiveness of HAI/AR prevention initiatives
• summarize outcomes
• work with stakeholders to incorporate education on antimicrobial stewardship and HAI/AR prevention into existing efforts
• facilitate directed technical support to facilities on implementation of infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship programs
Applicants must have experience in managing multi-facility health care quality improvement projects with knowledge of quality improvement models and experience in quantitative and qualitative program evaluation. Applicants must be knowledgeable about HAIs, antimicrobial stewardship, and NHSN, including technical knowledge of definitions, reporting requirements, and analysis options of patient safety modules within NHSN. An understanding of health care facility operations is also essential.

Criteria Selecting Proposals
Grantee must have experience with, and organizational capacity for, implementing and evaluating healthcare associated infection (HAI) and antimicrobial resistance (AR) programs at a regional or statewide level. Experience with, and capacity for, statewide antimicrobial stewardship work with healthcare providers, Illinois XDRO registry reporting or management, epidemiologic analysis of HAI/AR surveillance data, and healthcare related quality improvement will be prioritized. Grantee must have working relationships with healthcare provider and infection prevention groups in Illinois.

Initial 1-year award with potential for renewal(s) for a 3-year total, conditional on grantee performance and funding availability
Uses and Restrictions
Funding may not be used for research, clinical care, and in general not for furniture or equipment in accordance with federal guidelines.
Reports
In addition to quarterly performance reports, provide ad hoc reports on performance metrics as requested by CDC or the Department’s Division of Patient Safety and Quality leadership.
Records
Grantee shall maintain for three (3) years from the date of submission of the final expenditure report, adequate books, all financial records and, supporting documents, statistical records, and all other records pertinent to this Award, adequate to comply with 2 CFR 200.333, unless a different retention period is specified in 2 CFR 200.333 or 44 Ill. Admin. Code §§ 7000.430(a) and (b).
