Short Description
Workforce development grants to increase the competitiveness of Illinois’ businesses and provide opportunities to Illinois' workers and job seekers. The specific results to be achieved will be outlined in the grant agreements. The Governor and the General Assembly directs the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to administer grants to specific local governments, units of government, educational facilities, and not-for-profit organizations for specific miscellaneous purposes to bolster the state’s economy, promote workforce development, and improve the overall quality of life throughout the state of Illinois. DCEO grant programs are defined within the annual appropriation bill set forth by the Illinois General Assembly.
