This is a new initiative created by Public Act 102-0067, the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, will support the installation and operation of energy storage facilities at the sites of up to five qualifying electric generating facilities.

Award Procedures
The awards will be made by a combination of eligibility requirements established by the law and a merit-based review. Per P.A. 102-0662, the Department shall make the grant payments to a recipient in equal annual amounts for 10 years following the date the energy storage facility is placed into commercial operation. The grant contracts shall specify the date or dates in each year on which the annual grant payments shall be paid.
