PROGRAM INFORMATION
Short Description
Outmigration/Family Reunification: Provide support to new arrivals wanting to reunite with family and/or friends within the United States. We will purchase tickets + secure transportation to the airport/bus station. These services will be provided at the Intake Center, 8am-8pm M-Sat (note – this may expand to Sunday, when determined necessary by CCAC and IDHS leadership). Shelter support will be provided Monday-Friday.
Housing Counseling: Provide individual housing counseling sessions and Housing 101 workshops, utility set up, furniture referrals, and Ventra cards. These services will take place in up to 16 new arrival shelters (note-utility set-up will be available at all shelters through referrals from HSS providers). Workers are onsite M-TH for 8-hour shifts (times are non-designated to accommodate need for workers during the evening).
Housing Location: Support resident access to available units by fostering relationships with interested landlords, outreaching to new landlords, conducting unit walk throughs and compiling a list of available units to be shared with Housing Counselors on at least a weekly basis.
Community Welcoming Events: Gatherings to support new arrivals in their new neighborhoods through connection to services and amenities in each community. New arrival location data will inform where gatherings are located.
Status Reporting: Conduct weekly rapid response status reports. Share with IDHS, IHDA and key stakeholders, by shelter.
