Short Description
Funding Illinois’ Metropolitan Enforcement Groups and Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Forces (MEG/TFs) from the Criminal Justice Information Projects Fund. As directed by P.A. 100-987 under Sections 15-15 and 15-35 of the Criminal and Traffic Assessment Act, ICJIA is directed to fund the MEG/TFs equally based on the current amount in the fund. These funds are for use in investigating criminal justice issues or undertaking other criminal justice information projects.

Illinois Administrative Rules Authorization
The Criminal Justice Information Projects Fund shall be appropriated to and administered by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority for distribution to fund Department of State Police drug task forces and Metropolitan Enforcement Groups, for the costs associated with making grants from the Prescription Pill and Drug Disposal Fund, for undertaking criminal justice information projects, and for the operating and other expenses of the Authority incidental to those criminal justice information projects. The moneys deposited into the Criminal Justice Information Projects Fund under Sections 15-15 and 15-35 of this Act shall be appropriated to and administered by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority for distribution to fund Department of State Police drug task forces and Metropolitan Enforcement Groups by dividing the funds equally by the total number of Department of State Police drug task forces and Illinois Metropolitan Enforcement Groups.
Objective
Support Metropolitan Enforcement Groups and Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Forces in investigating criminal justice issues and/or undertaking other criminal justice information projects including: • Reducing crime through intelligence-led policing. • The investigation and enforcement of felony level drug distribution and trafficking. • The investigation and enforcement of human trafficking. • The investigation and enforcement of firearms offenses. • The investigation and enforcement of violations of the Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) Act. • Partnering with community groups, health organizations, and local stakeholders to address and prevent substance abuse disorders affecting Illinois communities. These objectives will be achieved through supporting MEG/TFs ongoing operations.

Audits
Recipients must submit an annual audit report in accordance with the 2 CFR Part 200 Uniform Requirements. Future awards and fund drawdowns may be withheld if audit reports are delinquent.

Program Accomplishments
It is expected that these funds will support the existing mission of Metropolitan Enforcement Groups and Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Forces to reduce crime through intelligence-led policing, the investigation and enforcement of felony level drug distribution and trafficking, human trafficking, firearms offenses, and violations of the Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) Act. These funds will also support MEG/TFs in partnering with community groups, health organizations, and local stakeholders to address and prevent substance abuse disorders affecting Illinois communities.
