Short Description
Under the Gubernatorial Emergency Disaster Proclamation, IDHS needs to create a Immigrant Legal Aid program to provide legal remedies for Southwest Border Arrivals (SBAs). Many SBAs need to apply for asylum and work authorization in order to stay in the U.S. legally. Their ability to secure temporary and hopefully permanent legal immigration status will help them become self-sufficient. The result will be a reduction on state's support for shelter, food and wrap-around services.
