(225 ILCS 650/) Meat and Poultry Inspection Act.
Objective
To prevent contaminated/adulterated meat/poultry products from entering commerce and endangering public health. Providing daily inspection to all licensed establishments ~ total number ~ 194 (FY15) with 62 slaughtering establishments. Slaughter operations must be done under continues inspection. Each and every carcass, bird must be inspected. Collect samples of inspected meat/poultry products and test for major food pathogens
