Short Description
Formula grants that are distributed to local workforce areas to deliver a broad array of integrated services to eligible Dislocated Workers as well as employers seeking skilled workers by improving the workforce system. Funds are provided by the United States Department of Labor authorized by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (Public Law 113-128).

Objective
The Rapid Response program helps laid off workers transition to new employment as quickly as possible. The program emphasizes the use of layoff aversion (proactive measures to avoid/minimize layoffs) and its critical role in creating high-performing Rapid Response systems. Rapid Response supports the goals of retaining jobs that meet the needs of Illinois employers, and expanding career opportunities for youth and adults throughout the state.

Applicant Eligibility
Illinois Local Workforce Investment Boards, or their designated fiscal agent, are eligible respondents for a region. Eligible project participants are WIOA-eligible Dislocated Workers. Non-formula rapid response grants are awarded based on the requirements outlined in the Rapid Response Funding Policy.
