Short Description
The grant is designed to reduce the rates of teen pregnancy and existing disparities by replicating evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs to scale in at least three settings: 1) in-school middle schools, 2) in-school high schools and 3) alternative schools and/or community-based afterschool programs. Services target youth ages 12-18 in a designated service area. The program is comprised of five major components, all of which are aimed at reaching youth to achieve the goal of decreasing teen birth rates: 1) deliver evidence-based curricula, 2) identify youth-friendly organizations and providers for the purpose of linkage, 3) develop and work with Community Advisory Group (Coalition), 4) develop and work with a Youth Leadership Council (YLC), and 5) develop a strategic dissemination and communication plan. Goal/Long Term Outcome: Reduce the rate of births to teen females (age 15-19) per 1,000 females age 15-19 in communities. Objectives: 1. Increase in youth exposure to teen pregnancy prevention evidence-based curricula (EBC) 2. Increase in community engagement in and awareness of comprehensive teen pregnancy prevention issues, programs and services 3. Increase in meaningful youth engagement to ensure that teen pregnancy prevention programs are relevant and appropriate 4. Increase in high quality implementation of evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention Evidence-Based Curricula (EBC) 5. Increase in access to high quality teen pregnancy prevention services
